A systems approach to developing a distance learning model for students in Russian higher education institutions

Abstract
This article examines the application of a systems approach as a foundation for developing a distance learning model for students in Russian universities. The potential of the systems approach to modeling educational activities in a digital environment has not been sufficiently explored yet. The prevailing scientific approach to studying various aspects of distance learning theory and practice is the process-based approach. As a result, existing distance learning models are highly specialized, lacking both a standard structure and a common set of requirements for development and implementation. This complicates the design and execution of measures for further digital modernization of Russian higher education, particularly at the institutional level. The aim of the study is to develop and analyze a universal distance learning model using a systems approach methodology. The empirical basis draws on the data from a sociological study conducted among university students in Perm and Voronezh. The findings allow for the characterization of a distance learning model for analysis and further improvement, as well as broaden the utility of the systems approach, thereby contributing to the development of the theoretical and practical aspects of educational organization management.
